I knitted a few pairs of socks for the craft fairs last year, but no one was interested in buying them. I got plenty of ooos and aaaahs about them, but no one wanted to buy them.

So all the socks that I had knitted have been given to my two girls and I got a couple of pairs too. But now that I have started wearing knitted socks, I prefer them to bought ones so I thought I would knit myself some more.

I actually read the pattern wrong and missed out a purl stitch between the waves on the first sock, so the pattern is a bit lop sided, but because they are for me I decided not to rip them out and start again. No one will see my feet anyway as I always wear big boots.

The pattern is from the “Favourite Socks” book by Interweave. I am using 4 ply sock yarn and 2.25mm dpns.

The biggest problem I have when knitting socks, is that I keep sticking the needle into my finger which can become quite painful after a while, so I currently have a plaster on my finger to try and prevent some pain.

I hope to have the second sock finished today so that I can start knitting a pair of Toe Up socks.

When I looked at his socks, every single pair had holes in them.

Now, David is always saying that he needs me to knit him some more socks, and normally there are a dozen pairs in his drawer at the time, so I have not been knitting his socks lately! That’ll teach me!

I am now going to have to knit as many pairs of these socks as I can and as quickly as possible so that he doesn’t run out.

These socks are knitted in aran weight yarn and on 4mm dpn, so they do not take long to knit up, but I have a few other projects that have to be done too.

I guess I will be putting in some late nights in the near future.

I can’t show you the two socks as I no longer have them. A friend is getting married next year and he will be wearing a kilt. His fiancee has the socks at the moment and will let me know if she wants me to make socks for the other 3 men who will be wearing kilts.

I have a feeling that I will be sick of the sight of them by the time I am finished.

These are knitted in DK and I have used Wendy Mode Double Knitting which is 50% Merino Wool/50% Fine Arcrylic

I have put a thistle detail in the cuff, but the pattern also had a stags head and a cable cuff.

The pattern was one that my mother has had for years although I have seen it in my lys recently.

I bought the pink, knitted up in the picture and a green colour too.

The yarn feels very silky, soft and warm. I found the yarn very easy to split especially while knitting the cuff and heel details.

So I will just have to buy myself some fancy yarn and make some more for myself I will hide them next time.

I chose to join the Interweave Sockalong and started knitting the Seduction Socks. I didn’t have any fancy sock yarn so I am using Patons Diploma Gold 4 ply which is 55% Wool,25% Acrylic and 20% Nylon.

I haven’t really knitted many socks in my time, apart from Aran ones for my other half, David.

I am really enjoying knitting this one.

My partner, David, had an opperation on his back about 4 years ago and ever since, he has suffered from poor circulation and finds that his feet are always freezing cold.

I used to make him Boot Socks for the winter, but now he wants/needs to wear them all year round. Yes, even when the sun is splitting the trees.

Here is a pair of the Boot Socks that I make for him.

They are knitted in Aran yarn, 25% wool content, he didn’t like the ones that I made him using sock yarn, and they are very quick to knit, because of the thickness of the wool and they are knitted on 4 x 4mm needles.

I wear bedsocks in winter because we live in a very old house and although we have central heating, the house can still be quite cold at night and if my feet are cold, so is the rest of me

I do have a pattern for 4ply bedsocks knitted on 4 needles, but I don’t have a picture of them and the pair that I have are getting a bit old and wouldn’t look to good. So I have knitted a pair in DK yarn.

These are knitted on two needles and take a bit longer to knit because of the thickness of the wool and they also have a fancy pattern at the top.

Because these are knitted on two needles, there is a lot more sewing up to do.

I knit a lot of these for Craft Fairs and manage to sell quite a few pairs every year. They are not tight at the top and therefore are great for people who have poor circulation.

They don’t have to be worn exclusively in bed either. My daughter has a pair and uses them like slippers when she is lounging around the house.
