Adventures of a hand knitter

Soo Many Stitches

Posted on | February 5, 2008

Although I love hand knitting, I do hate to knit in white. No matter how hard I try to keep my hands clean, I always manage to make white wool look dirty!

One of my recent orders was for 3 white baby jackets. It was left up to me what pattern I did them in so I used my favourite one.

You knit the body, fronts and sleeves up to the yoke in separate pieces and then join them all together to do the yoke.

All the bits to make up the jacket

This is a very simple 4 row pattern. It does take a while to do because it is on thin needles and 4 ply wool, but I think it is well worth it when you see the finished product.

There is also a shawl and bootees that use the same pattern. They make a very nice gift for a new mum.
