Swallowtail Lace Shawl – FO

Posted on | July 9, 2009 | 2 Comments

swallowtail_lace_shawl This is my first completed lace project!

I decided to knit it exactly to the pattern, although I now wish I had made it a bit bigger but it looks great just as it is!

The pattern is from Evelyn Clark Designs and you can get it free from Ravelry.

It is the Swallowtail Lace Shawl

I used some 2ply laceweight merino but I can’t remember where I got it.  The pattern calls for 437 yds (400m) of laceweight yarn.  I am not sure how much I used but I still have plenty of this yarn left to do a couple more and to make them bigger!

The pattern includes both charts and written instructions.  I prefer to use the written instructions.

The shawl didn’t take long to knit up.  I started it on the Friday and had finished it by the following Thursday, so it took me less than a week, and I am not a very fast knitter.

I enjoyed knitting this shawl so much, that I started another Evelyn Clark pattern the next day.  It is currently blocking and I will post photos and details as soon as it is dry.
