Wendy Mistral Chunky Jumper

Posted on | June 15, 2008

I have been busy building a website for my other half who has just started up an offline business of his own, so I haven’t had much time to post to the blog. But I have been knitting. :)

A while ago I bought some Wendy Mistral Chunky yarn. I had hoped to use it to knit a certain jumper but it turns out that there wasn’t enough. So I eventually found a pattern for Mistral and knitted the smallest size to make sure that I have enough yarn to do more.

Wendy Mistral Chunky Jumper The white bits are in the yarn. This is a simple pattern with the cables at the front the only detail, the rest is all plain knitting.

This is a 32″ and took 8 x 50g balls.

Wendy Mistral Chunky contains 29% Wool, 68% Acrylic and 3% Polyester.

It can be machine washed at 40 degrees.

I have enough yarn to do another 4 jumpers in various sizes and colours.

I will post pictures when I have them done.

On the needles

Posted on | May 18, 2008

I am currently going through a phase where I can’t seem to finish anything.

I don’t have any photos for todays post, the weather is too dull to get a good shot of anything, but here is a list of some of the things that I will have to finish over the coming weeks:-

Cream Aran Jacket - I just need to sew it up and do the neck and front bands

Graphite Aran Scarf - This one just needs the fringe put onto the ends

Red 4ply Scarf - This has been sitting for a while and I might just rip it out and do something else with the yarn.

Blue Short Sleeved Top - I am knitting this one in Sirdar Duet. It knits up really quick and it is just a plain pattern, but the yarn is cotton/Nylon mix and the nylon has a habbit of catching on everything, including my dry fingers :( Not sure if I like this one of not.

Order for 6, yes that is six, baby sets. - Each one includes jacket, bonnett, boottees and mitts. There are 3 different patterns and my customer wants 1 pink and 1 white of each pattern.

I am going to have to get these things finished because the craft fairs will be starting soon and I really don’t have enough stock of anything at the moment, so my needles will need to be moving pretty quickly for the next while.

I will post photos when I get some of the above finished. :)

Bits and pieces

Posted on | May 8, 2008

Hats, Scarf, Mitts and SocksHats and scarfs have always been very popular at the Craft Fairs and I like to have a lot of them in stock so there is no chance of running out of them.

I have knitted another old favourite again. The wine coloured hat is knitted in 25% Wool Aran. The rib is about 34 rows and takes a while to do, but the rest knits up really quickly.

Next we have another hat knitted on a circular needle. It is 25% Wool Aran again, this one is plain stocking stitch with a two colour pattern at the crown. It has a simple rolled brim so there was no ribbing to do.

This is my first completed pair of 4ply socks knitted on 4 dpns. Normally I start knitting a pair and get fed up before I reach the heel, but this time, I finished them. :)

Next in the photo, we have a pair of fingerless mitts. This were also knitted on 4 dpns. They took a while to finish, but I kept at it. :)

Last but not least we have the fuchsia coloured scarf. It is a simple 4 row pattern and knitted in a wool/cotton mix.

The scarf is quite long and warm.

First Lace Project - Finished

Posted on | April 30, 2008

Not one, but two of them. :)

Finished Kid Silk Haze Scarfs I finally finished the first Kid Silk Haze Scarf, the dark one, and then decided to do another one.

The second one knitted up quicker than the first, but the pattern isn’t difficult and the lighter yarn helped too.

I have bought enough yarn to do another 3 of these scarfs, although I think I will take a break before I start the next one.

The colours used here are Blackcurrent and Glacier of Rowans Kid Silk Haze.

This yarn was lovely to knit with and really didn’t take long to knit up. It uses 3 x 25g balls per scarf and you just knit until you are nearly at the end of the yarn. The pattern says to finish on a row 15 of the pattern, but with the first scarf I finished on the 7th row of the 31st repeat.

The second scarf is slightly longer. It finished on the 15th row of the 31st repeat. There was still some more yarn left over, maybe enough to get to the 7th row of the 32nd repeat, but I didn’t want to take the chance and have to unravel back to the 15th row.

The worst thing about this yarn is taking back rows because of the fluffy bits. :)

The yarn for the first scarf came as a kit from Rowan, purchased from John Lewis in Aberdeen for £25.

I then bought the second and a further 3 scarfs from GetKnitted.com The yarn costs £7.25 per ball, although you may be able to find it slightly cheaper if you shop around online.

Another Aran

Aran Jumper with thistles

We finally got a nice day and I managed to get out and take some photos of my recently completed projects.

This jumper was really quick to knit up and when I looked at the pattern, I thought that the flowers in the middle panel looked like thistles. The yarn I used is a black/blue/green colour. Although you can’t tell from the photo, it has a kind of tartan look to it and I thought it would go well with the thistles.

I was so worried having it outside that I just shoved it on the dummy and didn’t bother to check that it was lying right before taking the photo, but knowing the weather here in the NE of Scotland, I didn’t want to take too long outside incase it started to rain again. :)

I am really pleased with how it turned out and may well do some more in different colours.

I will post more photos tomorrow.

Denim Aran Cardigan

Posted on | April 17, 2008

Denim Aran Cardigan with collarI haven’t managed to get online for some time due to my Broadband going on the fritz. We finally managed to get our provider out to fix it and I am now back online!

I have managed to get a few things knitted over the past while, one of which is this Aran Cardigan, with a collar.

The picture doesn’t do it justice, but it really turned out nice.

I will probably knit some more in other colours and sizes, this one is knitted in Denim and is size36/38″.

I will get some more photos of the other things that I have finished over the past couple of weeks online as soon as possible.
