Bag - Felted?
Posted on | July 26, 2008
This was my first attempt at knitting a bag.
I used some yarn that I got in a Charity shop, it is 100% wool and I thought it would felt, but it just shrunk a little bit.
Never mind though, I will use the bag to store some of my yarn.
It has put me in the mind to do some proper felting and I really want to get some proper yarn and knit some more bags. ![]()

2 Aran Hats
Posted on | July 22, 2008
I managed to knit up these two hats using some left-over yarn from one of my bigger projects.
They were both knitted on a circular needle. The green and white one is a Large and has a rolled brim. The smaller one is a Small and has about 4″ of rib at the bottom and lots of cable. The crown shaping of this one was done over 4 rounds and really didn’t take long to do.
Both patterns are from “Hats On!” by Charlene Schurch

Aran Coat Progress
Posted on | July 10, 2008
I had wanted to put up photos of the back and fronts of the Aran Coat that I am knitting but they were too big to take a decent photo of so I have taken a photo of the first sleeve instead.
I am now about half way through the second sleeve. I still have to do the hood, sew it up and do the front bands.
I tried to get buttons today from the LYS, but they didn’t have a very good selection. I bought what I thought was the nearest match, but I just might need to order some online if I can find some.
This is a very popular pattern, last year I received orders for 5 of these coats!

Another Gents Aran Jumper
Posted on | July 4, 2008
This is my latest FO.
It is a gents 42″ Aran Jumper.
I am hoping that I will be able to do some craft fairs this year, but I haven’t booked any yet as I don’t know if I will have either enough stock or transport to get me there.
My other half, David, has started his own business and needs our car every day. He is planning on getting a van, but that has to wait until the money starts coming in on a regular basis, so I am stuck at home most of the time at the moment, only getting out to do the food shop in the evening.
No wool shops for me for a while! Lucky for me I was buying wool regularly for a while and have a decent amount to keep me going.
I have already started knitting an aran coat. I have finished the back and am about half way up the first front. I will get some photos taken when I can and post again.

Gents Aran Jumper
Posted on | June 18, 2008
This is a 38″ Gents Aran Jumper. It took just under 800g of yarn to do.
Excuse the display, but I only have the one tailors dummy and it is female.
The jumper has patterns all over it. I don’t thing there is one bit that doesn’t have some sort of cable pattern or twist stitch on it.
It was great fun to knit.
I have knitted it in 25% Wool, 75% Acrylic so that it can be machine washed at 40 degrees.
This garment was knitted for stock and will be going to my next Craft Fair with me.
I still have lots of knitting to do for stock, including more jumpers, jackets, coats, cardigans, socks……… and much more!

Another Aran
Posted on | April 29, 2008

We finally got a nice day and I managed to get out and take some photos of my recently completed projects.
This jumper was really quick to knit up and when I looked at the pattern, I thought that the flowers in the middle panel looked like thistles. The yarn I used is a black/blue/green colour. Although you can’t tell from the photo, it has a kind of tartan look to it and I thought it would go well with the thistles.
I was so worried having it outside that I just shoved it on the dummy and didn’t bother to check that it was lying right before taking the photo, but knowing the weather here in the NE of Scotland, I didn’t want to take too long outside incase it started to rain again.
I am really pleased with how it turned out and may well do some more in different colours.
I will post more photos tomorrow.

Denim Aran Cardigan
Posted on | April 17, 2008
I haven’t managed to get online for some time due to my Broadband going on the fritz. We finally managed to get our provider out to fix it and I am now back online!
I have managed to get a few things knitted over the past while, one of which is this Aran Cardigan, with a collar.
The picture doesn’t do it justice, but it really turned out nice.
I will probably knit some more in other colours and sizes, this one is knitted in Denim and is size36/38″.
I will get some more photos of the other things that I have finished over the past couple of weeks online as soon as possible.
